Our vision as a church is: “We want to be a welcoming church with Jesus at the centre”.
Immanuelskyrkan Skövde is part of ’Equmeniakyrkan’. Three denominations (the Baptist church, the Methodist church and ‘Missionskyrkan’) with the roots in the Swedish revival wanted to form something new and joined together in 2011. This means there is diversity within our church – our hope is that this will make you feel at home whatever your background!

Most of what we do is in Swedish, but some of our ministry is partly or wholly in English.

Monthly Evening Service in English
Starting autumn 2023, gather one Sunday a month for an English-speaking evening service. Worshiping together is an important part of the Christian life, and therefore we want our church to be open and welcoming to all people. We hope this space will be one where you can meet with God and have community with other people. We would love for you to join us so we can get to know you!
Currently Immanuelskyrkan have two people on staff who have lived partly or most of their lives in English speaking countries. Our pastor Annie Kirk lived in London for three years as a young adult and is married to Jason from England. Gerald T. Smith, our church musician, moved to Sweden from America in the spring of 2023 and will be here for a total of two years. We want to seize this moment and create a space for English speaking people in Skövde to worship.
Usually, one of our pastors will share a message from the Bible and Gerald will lead worship. Should you desire to pray or talk to someone in connection to the service you are more than welcome to speak to one of our pastors.
As we are in Sweden we will obviously have ’fika’ together afterwards.

Meeple Mondays
Meeple Mondays is our board gaming group. Young adults from diverse backgrounds and nationalities meet every Monday at 6:30 pm until late. Normally we speak a mixture of Swedish and English. We play mostly advanced strategy board games, such as Ark Nova, Wyrmspan and Dune Imperium. Sometimes we meet up on a Saturday to play Twilight Imperium IV or other larger games. We keep a fun and open atmosphere, it’s not all about winning but about having a good time together.
The group is open for those who knows all about board games – and those who know nothing at all, if we need to, we will go through the rules with you.

The Swedish speaking congregation
If you are interested in our Swedish speaking congregation, we worship together every Sunday at 11 am and have an open and welcoming children’s and youth ministry. If you want to know more about any of this, please contact us and we’ll tell you more!
